Top Afghan diplomat Amir Muttaqi holds bilateral talks with Wang Yi ahead of trilateral summit with Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar

The Afghan Taliban will host a trilateral meeting with China and Pakistan in Kabul on Wednesday — the first such high-level gathering since it regained power four years ago — in a bid to bolster its push for international legitimacy.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will represent Pakistan at the meeting to be hosted by Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. This will be the first visit by the Chinese foreign minister to Afghanistan since the Taliban regained power four years ago while the third by Dar to the Afghan capital since April.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is to visit Pakistan on Thursday for co-chairing the 6th Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue to be held in Islamabad. During her regular press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson Mao Ning’s said this will be Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s second visit to Pakistan in three years.

China has also transferred four advanced naval frigates to Pakistan, underscoring its long-term plan to bolster Islamabad’s maritime strength. These moves are seen as part of Beijing’s effort to expand its naval presence in the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean,

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi will a pay three-day visit to Pakistan this week for talks with his counterpart Ishaq Dar, an official statement said Tuesday.
