Mohamed Salah said the death of Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota in a car crash had left him "frightened" to return to the club as the Premier League champions postponed the return of some players for pre-season training.

The Liverpool forward posted the message on social media a little over 24 hours after the news of Jota's passing was confirmed by Spanish police.

Liverpool are preparing to bid an emotional farewell to Diogo Jota at the forward’s funeral in Portugal on Saturday.The club, as well as fans and football as a whole, are in mourning after the 28-year-old Portugal international and his brother Andre Silva were killed in a car crash in Spain in the early hours of Thursday.
