Ohio State has canceled classes for Monday and Tuesday in Columbus due to a massive amount of snow blanketing the area.

The university says all instructors are encouraged to host virtual classes where feasible.

Columbus received about a foot of snow this weekend, and Ohio State is continuing to make progress on roads and sidewalks, expecting to completely reopen campus by Wednesday unless weather conditions dictate otherwise.

Much of the Columbus metro area picked up around a foot of snow. Some parts of the viewing area saw over 16" of snow.

Rough winter weather across central Ohio led to several sports cancellations and postponements, though some teams still took the court despite snowy conditions.
