Fourth of July celebrations and activities across the Hill Country have been canceled as historic flooding swells the Guadalupe River. The surge has triggered evacuations, multiple emergency alerts, and now, confirmed fatalities.

No children were at a summer camp near Kerrville when it was overtaken by flooding, but the camp is now temporarily closed, an email stated.

Houston’s signature Fourth of July celebration, Freedom Over Texas, is set to return Thursday with six hours of live entertainment, family-friendly festivities, and a fireworks finale expected to draw tens of thousands to the city’s downtown.
