NEW YORK (WJW) — New York City police on Monday morning investigated a potential emergency in Times Square that closed the area to traffic and pedestrians. The New York Police Department posted on social media asking people to avoid the area of West 43rd Street and 7th Avenue in Manhattan.

Times Square in central Manhattan was evacuated on Monday afternoon following a bomb threat. Officers rushed to the famous area, crossed by millions of tourists and locals every day, on August 18 following reports of a suspicious package.
