Google Maps will let users easily track a dropped pin by always pointing to the pin's location relative to the current position.
To do this on a mobile device, simply launch the Google Maps app and tap your starting point that doesn't already have a pin. On the Dropped Pin card that shows up onscreen, select Measure Distance.
