Windows 11 provides Remote Desktop functionality that will let you connect to another computer and control it as if you’re physically present in front of that machine.

The Windows App is essentially its new and modern replacement. However, while the Windows App does cover most of what Microsoft Remote Desktop did, it doesn't cover everything on every platform.

This article shows how to use Remote Desktop over LAN on Windows 11/10 using which you can access Client computers on your Local Area Network.

For your home network, just the name should suffice. When you want to make a remote connection to this computer, start the Remote Desktop Connection app on a secondary PC (Figure C).

Microsoft is replacing the old RDC client app with a new Windows app and the new and improved features can work in a domain-based or home environment.

Following the cut-off date, connections to Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Microsoft Dev Box via the Remote Desktop app will be blocked.

Microsoft announced that it will drop support for the Remote Desktop app (available via the Microsoft Store) on May 27 and replace it with its new Windows App.

There are several ways to disable or enable Remote Desktop Connection in Windows 11/10. Eg. Windows Settings, Control Panel, Hotkey, Explorer, etc.
