Ford has announced that it is making Android Auto and Apple CarPlay software support available to model-year 2016 vehicles equipped with SYNC 3.

It remains to be seen if Ford plans to take care of these glitches with the next SYNC update, but for now, the good news is another long-time Android Auto bug has been finally squashed.

For example, 2016 Ford cars with SYNC 3 can run Android Auto if they are powered by version 2.0 or newer. If your car doesn't have a touchscreen, it can't run Android Auto.
