The Minneapolis DFL’s endorsement of state Sen. Omar Fateh in the Minneapolis mayor’s race sparked numerous challenges. On Thursday, the state DFL party took the unprecedented step of revoking the local endorsement.

"Right now, there is a clear tension between the progressive Democrats who are challenging the status quo and moderate Democrats," Omar and other left-wing officials wrote.

Following the announcement, Fateh's campaign issued a statement, calling it a "disenfranchisement of thousands of Minneapolis caucus-goers and the delegates."
