Tremonton • Northern Utah law enforcement leaders said more people would have died in Sunday night’s shooting in Tremonton if not for the actions of two city police officers who were killed and a sheriff’s deputy who was wounded.

TREMONTON, Utah — Two police officers were killed and another injured, along with a K-9, after a suspect opened fire following what was described as a domestic disturbance Sunday night in Tremonton. The unidentified suspect is now in custody while the officer who was not killed and the K-9 are reported to be in fair condition.

Two days after the tragedy that resulted in the deaths of two police officers in Tremonton, the community is still trying to wrap its collective heads around what occurred.

Two officers from the Tremonton-Garland Police Department were fatally shot, and a third officer and a police service dog from the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office were injured by gunfire, after police responded to a reported domestic violence call in Tremonton on Sunday night.

Law enforcement officers and public officials come together in solidarity after the tragic shooting that left two police officers dead and another officer and their K9 injured on Sunday. Governor Spencer Cox (R-Utah) called it a terrible and tragic night.
