What had been a polarizing election for Minneapolis mayor has exploded into a full-blown political crisis for the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar and a group of prominent Minneapolis Democrats Thursday released a statement condemning the state party for revoking the DFL convention endorsement of mayoral candidate Sen.

The decision to strip Fateh of his endorsement came after incumbent Minneapolis Democratic Mayor Jacob Frey challenged the DFL’s voting process.

A day after an endorsement by the Minneapolis branch of the DFL for Omar Fateh was revoked at the party's state level, those frustrated by the decision will gather at City Hall to voice their concerns.

The party decided to revoke the democratic socialist’s endorsement over concerns about errors in the endorsing convention.
