Authorities in Perry County are searching for Chris Combs, who investigators say escaped custody, stole a sheriff’s cruiser, and is considered armed and dangerous.

The man broke out of handcuffs in the back seat of a Perry County Sheriff's Office car and managed to steal the car, police said.

In 2024, over 850,000 vehicles were stolen in the United States. Motor vehicle theft is the third most common property crime.
