Instead of “College GameDay,” ESPN is broadcasting a pregame show entitled “College Football Countdown” at 10 a.m. EST on Saturday. The two-hour show will serve as a preview of the Week 0 games as well as the college football season.
After almost eight football-less months, schools return to the gridiron for the second season of the 12-team College Football Playoff. Ohio State ran the gauntlet in year one of the expanded playoff, defeating Notre Dame 34-23 for its second CFP championship.
Texas opens at Ohio State in Week as a +2.5 point underdog and in October, the Longhorns do not play a home game. Texas goes to Florida, who is off a bye week, then to Dallas for the red river rivalry with Oklahoma, a trip to Kentucky who is off a bye, and to Mississippi State to end the month.
