In 2022, Germany-based photographer Jesco Denzel took these portraits of Holocaust survivors of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, on location at the former camp and what is today a memorial site. Today marks 80 years since the liberation of Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. On 15 April, 1945, British forces liberated the camp, uncovering the horrific conditions endured by thousands prisoners. This menorah, on display in IWM London's Holocaust Galleries was crafted by a soldier from the British Army's Jewish Brigade using parts of a Sten gun.
