Unintentionally painting plants too symmetrically is common for realism artists like myself. Sometimes we don’t even realize until after the painting is dry. Here is an example where I’m checking my work during the painting process and realizing that I need to add more shape variety to the creekbank plants. Nature does have plenty of repeating patterns and rhythms, but trees and plant life typically aren’t rigidly identical in form. They tend to have a sense of organic looseness or imperfections
