In the 8th inning the Mariners were up 1-0, Dominic Canzone hit a grounder to Michael Massey at second for an easy out. It looked routine until replay showed Massey’s heels on the outfield grass resulting in a shift violation. Seattle challenged and since Massey was the first defender to touch the ball, the play was overturned. Instead of an easy out, Canzone was awarded first and Massey was charged with an error.
