The original range of the Apache trout (Oncorhynchus gilae apache) comprised an estimated 820 stream miles in the high-mountain watersheds of the Black, White, and Little Colorado Rivers above 5,900 feet in elevation in eastern Arizona. They are one of only two trout species native to Arizona, the other being gila trout (Oncorhynchus gilae gilae).
