🇵🇷 Puerto Rican music is more than sound — it’s history, identity, and survival. 🖤🥁✨ From bomba and plena to salsa and reggaetón, these genres carry the imprint of the African diaspora on the island. Bomba was created by enslaved Africans in Puerto Rico over four centuries ago — a powerful dialogue between drummer and dancer that became both resistance and release. Plena followed as the periódico cantado — the “sung newspaper” of the people — blending African percussion with storytelling roo
