The first female #MotoGP racer? Her name is Taru Rinne, and she was born in Turku, Finland in 1968. As a child she was a very skilled kart racer– proving herself in the 70s racing alongside future Formula 1 drivers. One of which was two-time F1 World Drivers’ Champion Mika Häkkinen. Rinne won the Finnish Karting Championship in 1979. In 1988 she traded the kart for a 125cc motorcycle and joined the Road Racing World Championship (now known as MotoGP).
